Week 8: The Crucible & PSAT

Monday: View the Salem Witch Trials video we didn’t get to last week due to test prep.

Tuesday: PSAT = HAVE FULLY CHARGED CHROMEBOOKS THAT DAY!!!

Go to the College Board site for prep and questions: Standardized Tests are like videogames – the more you “play” the more likely you are to “platinum” them.

Wednesday – Friday: Finish Act 1 of The Crucible. (From where either Rebecca or Hale enters, depending on our stop point last week.) Quiz over Act 1 when we finish.

Work on Split Quotes: you should have 2 each for most of the primary characters and can use them on quizzes.

If you are absent, you can keep up with readings in Google Classroom – the whole script is there and you still have to take quizzes even if you’ve been gone.

Week 7: The Crucible….FINALLY! (???)

HOPEFULLY we can FINALLY start reading The Crucible aloud!

Monday: Kahoot quiz over Characters of The Crucible. (We were supposed to take this Friday, but alas, were interrupted by testing brouhaha and College Board logins.)

Tuesday: (Testing interruption possibly…?) If not, watch video on Salem and Witch Trials with sub. Google Classroom Summary Response as follow up.

Wednesday – Friday: READ THE PLAY OUT LOUD AND PARTICIPATE IN ACTING!!! Read Act 1 and quiz. 😀  Take split-quote-notes as we read.

Week 6: SAT BlueBook Intro + Crucible Characters

MONDAY: PSAT PREP FOR OCTOBER – BRING CHARGED CHROMEBOOKS FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY! 😉

Tues-Thurs: Character Maps for The Crucible. We will quiz over characters either Thursday, Friday, or Monday & start the play next week.

EDIT: Mon, Tues, Fri = attempts to login to Bluebook and do test prep. Choppy character work Wed-Thurs on The Crucible. MAYBE we can get a break next week?! 😀

Week 5: Seminar and Character Maps

We will seminar over “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” and what America looked like in the 1600’s (covering notes from last week).

We’ll take a quiz over that content Wednesday.

Thursday – Friday we’ll work on character maps for The Crucible, our next text. (You will be quizzed over characters – you need to know who’s who!)

THIS IS A PLAY! PLAYS ARE MEANT TO BE READ ALOUD! I NEED FOLKS WHO ARE READY TO PERFORM FOR THIS!

Week 4: Puritans & American History

English 3 & Honors on the same page

Take notes over Library of Congress pages over America in the Seventeenth Century (Puritans, colonies, religion as influence on politics, etc.)

English 3 (1st, 3rd, &7th) took notes over part 1 last week. Honors (4th) will take notes this week: https://www.loc.gov/exhibits/religion/rel01.html

All classes finish up with part 2 this week: https://www.loc.gov/exhibits/religion/rel01-2.html

We will seminar over the concepts in these pages Wed. & Thurs.

^Folks weren’t finished with notes and few wanted to seminar over “boring” content.

Thursday: add Puritan content from this page to “notes”: https://borger3.wordpress.com/category/puritan-romantics/

They we’ll read “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” in the e-text. THAT will give us something to seminar about!
